Wieland Scores Twice In Jills Fifth Straight Win

10/31/2014 5:49:00 PM

NEW ULM, MINN.- The Jills needed to win by two in order to keep their playoff hopes alive, and thats exactly what was provided; hope. The LumberJills continue their winning streak, as they defeated Martin Luther College 2-0. The Northland women have now won five straight games. Sophomore Madeleine Wieland (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) scored the only two goals of the entire match on phenomenal individual efforts.

After both goals were scored, it became a defensive effort to keep this two-goal lead. Freshman goal keeper Emily Romuald (Fon du Lac, Wisc.) came up with crunch time saves, earning her fourth straight shutout. Freshman center back Madison Erie (Red Wing, Minn.) chased ball after ball in the Jills' defensive half to protect the goal. The LumberJills play again tomorrow against University of Minnesota-Morris at 2:15 p.m.
