Volleyball Closes Out Season, Swept by Vikings

MANKATO, Minn. - Northland College (3-25, 1-13 UMAC) fell in straight sets to Bethany Lutheran with finals of 25-8, 25-17, 25-10 to close out their season.

Bethany Lutheran started out fast taking advantage of home court as they were able to jump out to a 14-3 lead. The Vikings would be able to hold onto this comfortable lead as they cruised to the 25-8 set win.

The second set proved to be a tight set at the beginning as both teams battled to an 11-10 Viking lead. This was followed by a three point run by Bethany to extend the lead to 14-10. This small run proved to be crucial as it gave the Vikings just enough of a lead. The Vikings would again expand their lead to a 20-13 advantage. Northland then went on a three point run to cut the deficit to 20-16, but Bethany was able to kill this momentum and finish the set on a 5-1 run and take the set 25-17.

Bethany came out fast again for the third set as they jumped all over the Jills defense and got out to a 12-0 lead. Northland had an answer going on a 5-1 run, but Bethany eventually killed off this momentum by going on a 7-0 run and held a 20-5 lead. Bethany then was able to cruise to the 25-10 set win, and take home the sweep.

Tayler Viegut led the Jill offense with seven kills, and the only block kill. Alison Blackford lead the defense with eight digs.
