ASHLAND, Wis. - Northland College (1-17, 0-6 UMAC) dug themselves a hole to big to dig out of early in the match and fell to Bethany Lutheran by scores of 25-15, 25-11, 25-21.

The match started out extremely even with both teams battling point for point to a 9-8 Bethany Lutheran lead. Bethany then was able to go on a quick 4-0 run to extend the lead to 13-8. A Northland timeout was able to break up the momentum for a moment, but Northland wasn't able to make up the slim deficit and eventually dropped the set 25-15.

The second set saw Bethany jump out to an early 10-3 lead. Northland found holes in the defense after the slow start, but were unable to maintain possession of the ball, and couldn't put together any runs. The Vikings pieced together a 5-0 run late to put the set away at 25-11.

The LumberJills were able to jump out to a quick lead in the third set as they had an early 8-3 lead in the set. Bethany was able to chip away at this lead slowly to a 13-9 Northland advantage. At that point the Vikings were able to find the floor and went on an 8-1 run. The Jills had an answer with a quick 3-0 run, which put the set at a 17-17 tie. The teams battled to a 22-21 Bethany lead, when the Vikings would take advantage of some late miscues defensively by Northland, and take the final set 25-21.

Tayler Viegut put together a solid day with a game high 11 kills, two block assists, and a block solo kill. Alison Blackford led the defense with eight digs, and 21 service receptions.
