CLAIREMONT, Calif. -
The Northland College women's volleyball team lost the final two games at the Pacific Coast Classic hosted by Pomona Pitzer. The Jills lost three sets to Colby-Sawyer and lost three sets versus Claremont Mudd Scripps by scores of 25-17, 25-10 and 25-6.
The Jills would finish the tournament with one win and three loses and will look to use the experience gained to prepare for the upcoming UMAC season. "This tournament was a big learning experience and there is a big difference in our team this year from last. The experience being in California will benefit us for our upcoming conference season." said senior captain
Megan Zynda.
Head coach Curt Sivertsen also felt the experience for the Jills was a positive one, “I felt overall that our experience coming to California was a good one and that I saw real growth from our returning players.”
The Jills next opponents will be Central College, Carleton College, Linfield College and Bethel University at the Bethel Invitational on September 7th and 8th. Northland will play two games on Friday at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. and two games on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 2 pm. The home opener for Northland is scheduled for September 12th against UW-River Falls at 7 p.m.
