Jacks leave Minneapolis with three points

Tibbetts scores two goals in the win

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.– The Northland College Men's Soccer team defeated North Central College 3-2 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Wednesday afternoon in Minneapolis, Minn. Harrison Tibbetts had his fourth multiple-goal game netting two in the victory.
 
The game started fast with four goals coming in the first 10 minutes. The Rams got the board first with a goal from Alvin Wlejleh. Northland tied the game in the eighth minute from a set piece. Keagan Culbertson swung the ball across the box finding Juan Solivellas at the back post scoring his first goal of the season. The tie did not last long with NCU scoring in the next 90 seconds. The Jacks tied the game up again when Tibbetts found himself behind the backline and chipped the keeper. The scoring died down for the rest of the half ending the first 45 minutes of play 2-2.
 
After not scoring in three matches Tibbetts scored for the second time in the game. Diego Castaneda fed the ball to Tibbetts, where he did the rest scoring the go-ahead goal. After the goal, NC and NCU combined for 15 shots, but all stayed out of the goal.
 
Both teams had their share of chances in the match with the Jacks outshooting the Rams 19-17. 12 of the 19 shots for Northland were shots on goal. Tibbetts led NC with six shots all were on target. Thomas Carey had another good outing against the Rams recording three shots in the action. Quinn Bieber, Castaneda, and Culbertson all had two shots in the 90 minutes.
 
Jamie Colvill and Tjaden Whisenhunt split time in the goal for Northland. In the first half, Colvill made two saves and coming out of half Whisenhunt also stopped to of NCU's shots
 
The Jacks will be back at Ponzio Stadium as they host the University of Minnesota, Morris on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
