ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Baseball team plays in its final series this weekend as it travels to Martin Luther College for Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action. The series begins on Friday at 3 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, scheduled for 12 p.m.

The LumberJacks had their home opener last week as they hosted North Central University. In the final home opener for Northland, the Jacks walked off the Rams 5-4. The Jacks would drop game two, and after trailing by 10 in game three, NC would rally back but fall one run short.
Peyton Solberg would earn UMAC Pitcher of the Week after throwing seven scoreless innings and striking out eight batters over two games.
Northland has four student-athletes batting over .300, with
Caden Willis leading the team at .321.
Nathan Davison and
Jonjay Arreazola follow at .315, and
Ridge Guyette is not far behind, batting .314. Guyette leads the team in RBIs at 23, with Willis in second at 20.
Tyler Murphy has scored a team-high 21 runs and has 13 stolen bases.
Ethan Boyce has the best ERA on the team of pitchers with over 20 innings of work at 4.88, Solberg and
Andrew Birko follow at 6.25 and 6.64, respectively. After an eight-strikeout week, Solberg now leads the Jacks with 28 strikeouts, and Boyce is one behind at 27. Four of the five pitchers who have earned a win this season got their first collegiate win:
Claudio Aguilar,
Vinny Cooney,
Dezmon LeTexier, and
Grant Vessey.
The Knights enter the final week of conference action with a 7-24 record and are 1-17 in the UMAC. Last week, Martin Luther traveled to Crown College and dropped the three games, 11-3, 11-1, and 13-2. Parker Winghart and Carlos Walta lead the team in batting at .340, with Walta having a team-high 22 RBIs. On the bump, Aidan Berg paces the Knights with a 6.09 ERA and 41 strikeouts.
