ST. PAUL, Minn. – Senior Peyton Solberg on the Northland College Baseball team was named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on April 29. Solberg is the first LumberJack on the baseball team to earn the weekly honor.

This is the first time Solberg has been named UMAC Pitcher of the Week, but on March 27, 2023, he was named UMAC Player of the Week.

To start the week, Solberg pitched against St. Norbert College. The senior entered the game with the LumberJacks leading and held the lead for NC in a 13-4 victory. Solberg worked the final two innings and saw the minimum number of batters, while striking out one.

To end the week, Solberg pitched in the final home game at LumberJack Field. The Bessemer, Mich., native continued to shut down the opposing team, this time tossing five scoreless innings against North Central University. In the sixth inning, Solberg struck out the side and finished the game with a career-high seven strikeouts.

The LumberJacks will play their final series starting on Friday at Martin Luther College with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.

Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
