ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Baseball team will have its home opener this weekend as they host North Central University for a three-game Upper Midwest Athletic Conference series starting on Friday at 3 p.m. The LumberJacks and Rams will then compete in a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.

The Jacks traveled to St. Norbert College on Monday for their most recent games. In the doubleheader, Northland took game one 13-4, but fell in game two 0-10. Mychal Castillo had a career-high four hits, while Caden Willis drove in a team-high four runs. On the bump, Claudio Aguilar earned his first collegiate win after throwing seven innings.
 
Ridge Guyette and Vinny Cooney lead Northland batting .321 with Jonjay Arreazola and Willis following at .309. Nathan Davison is also batting north of .300 at .304. Guyette recorded his 100^th career hit earlier in the week and leads NC with 35. Guyette also has team-highs in RBIs (20), slugging percentage (.560), walks (13), doubles (7), triples (5), and home runs (3).
 
On the mound, with pitchers over 20 innings pitched, Ethan Boyce leads the team with a 5.40 ERA, with Andrew Birko following at 6.75 while pitching a team-leading 34.2 innings. Peyton Solberg has tied the program record in career saves at six, recording three more this season. Boyce leads pitching with 26 strikeouts, with Solberg and Birko following at 21 and 20, respectively.
 
The Rams enter the weekend with an overall record of 4-25 and are 2-12 in the UMAC. Last weekend, North Central won its first conference games as it went 2-1 against Martin Luther College, winning the first two 12-6 and 13-9, but falling in the series finale 5-8. Earlier in the week, NCU went to the College of St. Scholastica, where they fell in both games of the doubleheader, 2-14. Jonah Taylor paces the Rams, batting .375. Caleb Alfaro has a team-leading 26 RBIs while batting .347. Of qualified pitchers, Cardiff Smith leads the way with a 9.00 ERA. Tim Yohan Dixon has a team-leading 15 strikeouts.
