Northland Baseball starts UMAC action at UW-Superior

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Baseball team enters the first week of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play on Thursday as they travel to the University of Wisconsin-Superior for a three-game series.
 
The LumberJacks and Yellowjackets will play their first game on Thursday at 12:30 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Friday with a first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.

Last week Northland played two games against Rockford University. In game one, Ethan Boyce pitched all eight innings for the Jacks with seven strikeouts. Northland would fall in game one 3-2 with Ridge Guyette scoring both of the runs on a home run. In game two, the LumberJacks trailed going into the final innings. Northland was able to score four runs in the ninth and get the tying run to first but dropped the contest 8-11. Caden Willis led the Jacks with three RBIs in game two.
 
Nathan Davison leads the Jacks batting .382 in the first 10 games. He also has team highs in hits, (13), doubles (2), and RBIs (6). Guyette paces the Jacks in slugging percentage at .485 and leads the team in triples and home runs at two apiece. On the bump, Boyce has an ERA of 3.24 in 16.2 innings pitched. The sophomore has 15 strikeouts totaled.
 
The Yellowjackets have started the 2025 season with a 5-9 record. Last week UW-Superior competed at the MattRuss Invitational where they went 3-5. In their most recent game, they were defeated 3-5 by Plattsburgh State. Senior Maxton Howell leads UWS, batting .303 with 10 hits. On the mound, Zach Romans has a team-low 3.79 ERA with 12 strikeouts. Senior Ben Welle leads the Yellowjackets with 10 Ks.
