Northland Baseball kicks off the 2025 season in Illinois, then heads down to Florida

LumberJacks start the new campaign with eight games on the road

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Baseball team begins its 2025 season with four games in Rantoul, Ill., then heads south for four more games in Florida at the Russmatt tournament.

Cal Fougner enters his second season with the program. Last year, he led the LumberJacks to an 8-28 overall record and an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference record of 4-17. In the UMAC Preseason Coaches Poll, Northland was slated to finish sixth.
 
Tyler Murphy returns to Northland after leading the team last year with a batting average of .325. Murphy ended his sophomore season with UMAC All-Conference Honorable. Some other key returners are pitchers Kazdion Mount and Peyton Solberg. Mount finished with a 2-2 record, including a complete-game shutout. Solberg had a team-low 3.34 ERA, three saves, and 23 strikeouts. The LumberJacks added 14 freshmen and two transfers to the team.
