ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Hockey team fell in its first game of 2025 6-1 to Lake Forest College Friday afternoon in Ashland, Wis. Freshman
Julia Fussy netted her first collegiate goal in the second period.
The Foresters struck early scoring in the first three minutes and then added a second two minutes later. After the second goal,
Maddy Bliss entered the game for the LumberJills in net.

Kiera Fairnington, and
Kylie Schryer all had a few cracks on goal but Northland remained scoreless. After the first period, Bliss made 15 saves to keep the score at 2-0.
On Northland's first shot of the second period, Fussy cut the deficit to one on her first collegiate goal.
Karsyn McQuaker assisted on the Jills' opening goal for her first collegiate point. Soon after, Schyer had a chance to level the game but her shot was corralled. With under nine minutes remaining the Foresters pulled their goalie on a delayed penalty and capitalized with the extra skaters to go back up two. Northland tallied their most shots in the second frame with Schryer pacing the team with three.
The third period started similarly to the first with LFC scoring two early goals. Northland's offense was held quiet in the final period only recording three shots from Fussy, Fairnington, and
Hannah Chady. The Foresters ended the scoring nine minutes in with their sixth of the game.
Fussy scored her first of her career at Northland earning her second point of the season with McQuaker earning her first point with the assist. Schryer led Northland totaling five shots with
Kennedy Gruhlke behind her with four. Fussy, Fairnington, and
Nevaeh Trihey all sent two shots the goaltender's way.
Zoe Laming made four saves in her six minutes of action and Bliss saved 53 shots to finish with a 93.0 save percentage.
The LumberJills and Foresters end the two-game series tomorrow (Saturday) with a 1 p.m., puck drop.
