LumberJacks drops home opener to Polars

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Soccer team dropped its home opener 0-7 to Crown College Wednesday night to start Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play in Ashland, Wis.
 
The Polars got on the board early with a goal five minutes in. Crown continued to build off the early momentum and added two more goals before the 30-minute mark. The Jacks had a great opportunity 31 minutes in, Frank Mozqueda took a shot from distance but the outstretched keeper kept Northland off the board. In the final five minutes, the Polars tacked on two more goals.  
 
Just like how the first half started Crown found the net early to increase the lead. The LumberJacks had a few shots but could not get the ball in the net. The Polars added their final goal from a penalty to win 7-0.
 
Northland tallied four shots on target, Deshaun Williams led NC with two, and Mozqueda and Ethan Rubin each had one. Rodrigo Chavez played 90 minutes in net and made six saves.
 
The Jacks continue conference play on Saturday when they travel to Martin Luther College for a 3:30 p.m., game.
 
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
