ASHLAND, Wis. – Ken Bartelt has been named the new Head Golf Coach for Northland College for the upcoming 2024 fall season announced Monday, June 17.
"I am excited to announce Ken Bartelt as Northland's Head Golf Coach," said Athletic Director Dan Schumacher. "He will be a great fit here and we eagerly anticipate the positive impact he will make."
Bartelt will jump to collegiate coaching after coaching at the high school level. He has coached numerous sports and has found success in all. Most recently Bartelt helped lead Northwestern High School Boys' Basketball to the State Semi-finals.
"I am very much looking forward to the new challenge and to help out the college that my wife, Annette, graduated from," said Bartelt. "It's a beautiful campus that also has a simulator on site for practicing after the weather turns ugly and the Chequamegon Bay Golf Course is in tremendous condition so we have a great place to practice and get better. I'm looking forward to meeting the returning players from last year and perhaps get a few more out to build some depth on both teams."
Along with coaching, Bartelt has spent time in an administrative role. In the early 1990's he was the Athletic Director for Monticello High School. He also has ties with Ashland, Wis., serving as assistant principal at Ashland High School from 2013-17.
Last year Bartelt won the Club Championship in Ashland. His wife Annette is a lifetime resident and is in the Ashland Oredocker Hall of Fame. His son Reece is a PGA teaching pro outside of Chicago.
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
