ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Baseball team travels to Mankato, Minn., for a three-game Upper Midwest Athletic Conference series with Bethany Lutheran College. After a schedule change, there will be a doubleheader on Friday starting at noon, followed by the series finale at a p.m., on Saturday.

The 2023 UMAC Champion Vikings are 4-7 on the season and started conference play 2-0. Last week BLC won big against Martin Luther College in the doubleheader, 13-3 and 22-5 to break its seven-game skid. Over the 11 games, BLC has two student-athletes batting over .400; Nolan Spence and Josh Robb at .447 and .400 respectively. Gavin Jacobsen leads Bethany Lutheran on the mound with a 3.18 ERA with 24 strikeouts.
In the first week of conference action, the Jacks fell in the doubleheader to the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Over the two games, sophomore
Nolan Hemmesch led Northland with four hits, two doubles, in seven at-bats.
Anthony Boyle started game one and pitched a scoreless three innings.
So far this season,
Tyler Murphy is leading NC in batting at .269 through 10 games.
Hunter Wicklund is behind him at .257.
Zach Ross,
Caden Willis, and Hemmesch lead the team with two extra-base hits, with Ross having the sole home run on the season.
Andrew Birko and
Matthew Traeger pace the Jacks on the mound with a 7.36 ERA.
Vinny Troccoli is right behind the pair at 7.50. Troccoli leads the team in strikeouts with 13 in 12 innings pitched.
Kazdion Mount made his season pitching debut against UWS and pitched a scoreless inning not allowing a hit.
