MENOMONIE, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Hockey team drops its post-season game 7-0 to the University of Wisconsin-Stout in the First Round of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Friday night in Menomonie, Wis.
The Blue Devils started hot and scored their first goal in the first nine minutes and found the back of the net two more times before the period was over. The second period was scoreless but the Blue Devils picked up their scoring ways and added four more before the final horn to win 7-0.
The Jacks recorded 24 shots in the contest. Leading the way was
Jackson Breton sending four shots toward the goaltender.
Brendan Charlton,
Jack Pojar, and
Trey Taylor finished behind him with three shots on net.
Viktor Wennberg started the game in net and made 25 saves. In the final five minutes,
Andrew Yocum went in as goalie but did not see a shot. Northland blocked 17 shots with
Zach Ross and
Sam Holy stopping three shots.
The Jacks play in a must-win game tomorrow (Saturday) to stay alive in the postseason against UW-Stout at 7 p.m.
