MENOMONIE, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Hockey team ended its season after falling 4-1 to the University of Wisconsin-Stout in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Saturday night in Stout, Wis.
Ben Stewart scored for the Jacks' but it was not enough for the win.
Northland started the game strong recording nine shots in the opening period. The Blue Devils broke the ice with a goal in the 16
th minute of the game.
The second period was a scoreless affair with UW-Stout outshooting the Jacks 10-to-5.
Entering the final period, Northland only needed one goal to tie the game but the Blue Devils doubled their lead six minutes in. UWS added another on the powerplay and a minute later had a 4-0 lead with only five minutes remaining. Stewart got the goal for Northland but the Jacks did not have enough time to come back from the three-goal deficit falling 4-1.
Stewart led the team in shots with four with one finding the back of the net in the final minute of play.
Bryson Cecconi assisted on the goal to earn a point in the final game of the season.
Camille Marcoux and Evan Illkos finished behind Stewart with two shots on goal.
Viktor Wennberg made the start in net tallying 25 saves.
Sam Holy and
Trey Taylor led the defense blocking three shots.
