SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Basketball team fell on the road to the University of Wisconsin-Superior 31-82 in the first game of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play of 2024 Saturday afternoon in Superior, Wis. 
Tara Sandoval scored a career-high 14 points against UWS.
 
After the first Yellowjackets' basket, Sandoval responded with a deep two. The rest of the first quarter the Jills were held quiet from the field. 
Kodie Rempp went 1-of-2 from the free throw line to end the first quarter scoring.
 
Sandoval had a big second quarter, scoring nine of Northland's 11 points before the half. Sandoval made two three-pointers and converted on a three-point play from a driving layup. 
Madison Mendoza scored the final points of the half for NC with a layup.
 
Rempp hit a three-pointer for the first points coming out of the half with 
Katelyn Altaha picking up her second assist. Later in the quarter, Altaha landed on the scorer's sheet with a two-point jumper.
 
The Jills ended the final quarter scoring 12 points. Mendoza hit a jumper for her second-made basket of the game. The following possession, Sandoval stole the ball and hit her third three of the game, for a five-point run for Northland. Mendoza added three more points coming out of a time-out. Altaha ended the scoring with a pair of jump shots.
 
Sandoval had a career-high 14 points with nine coming in the second quarter. Mendoza finished behind her with seven points. She shot 3-for-6 from the field and was a perfect 1-of-1 from behind the arc. Altaha added six points and Rempp finished the scoring with four. Altaha had all of the assists for the Jills with three.
 
Northland grabbed 21 rebounds in the contest with Altaha snagging seven. Sandoval ended the game behind her with six and Rempp rounded out the top-three with four. The Jills had five steals, coming from Altaha and Mendoza with two and Sandoval with one.
 
The Jills will continue their road trip next weekend when they travel to North Central University for a 5:30 p.m., game.
