LumberJacks fall to No. 13 Blugolds on the road

Northland falls 3-0 to UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Hockey team dropped a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference 3-0 to No. 13 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Friday night in Eau Claire, Wis.
 
The LumberJacks were held quiet in the first period not recording a shot on goal in the first 20 minutes. The Blugolds scored the opening goal 11 minutes in. Viktor Wennberg made 11 saves in the opening period.
 
The Jacks offensive tallied eight shots in the second period with Zane Burleigh and Camille Marcoux tallying two. UW-Eau Claire doubled its lead with three minutes remaining in the second period.
 
In the final period, Northland had five shots. In the final minutes, NC pulled its goalie for the extra skater and the Blugolds scored on the empty net to win 3-0.
 
Northland recorded 13 shots in the loss with Marcoux pacing the team with three. Burleigh and Ben Stewart were behind him with two. The defense blocked five shots, Trey Taylor with a team-high two. In net Wennberg made 24 saves on 26 shots faced.
 
The Jacks and Blugolds end the two-game series tomorrow (Saturday) with a 7 p.m., puck drop.
