ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Hockey team host Bethel University for the team's last nonconference game of the season at the Bay Area Civic Center. The LumberJills and Royals square up at 6 p.m., in Ashland, Wis.

The Royals are 7-5-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Last week Bethel dropped a home-and-home series with Augsburg University falling 1-0 and then 1-2 in overtime. Before those two games, the Royals were on a four-game winning streak. Senior Lindsey Muntifering leads the team with 10 points from five goals and five assists. Junior Anna Hanson has started 12-of-13 games in net and has recorded 356 saves.
This is the second meeting between teams this season with the first coming on Dec. 5. The Royals got on the board first with in goal in the opening period. Three minutes later,
Taylor Richmond leveled the game for the Jills but Bethel responded with four unanswered to win 5-1.
The LumberJills are coming off a bye week but in their first of 2024, they went 2-1. Northland started with a 4-1 victory over the University of Dubuque with goals from
Kiley Sims,
Kyleigh Moffatt, and
Kate Holtz. They then had a two-game series with Aurora University. The Jills took game one winning in overtime with Holtz scoring the decider. The following day they dropped game two 4-1. After her impressive week, Holtz became the second LumberJill to win Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
In her first season with the team, freshman
Audrey Ellerington leads the LumberJills with 12 points coming from six goals and six assists. Holtz ranks third on the team with eight but is tied with six goals on the season. Moffatt is second on the team in points with nine, three goals, and six assists.
Freshman
Karlee Lehner improved to 4-5-1 in net, while making 355 saves. The defensive had their biggest night in the upset win over Aurora with 27 blocked shots. The LumberJills now lead the WIAC in blocked shots averaging 14.25 per game. Northland has five of the top seven spots for individual blocked shots in spots three to seven in order
