ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Soccer team earns its first win of the season with a shutout victory over Maranatha Baptist University 4-0 in Ashland, Wis., at the Ponzio Stadium. Head coach
Aaron Blanchard earned his first collegiate win after leading the Jills to a 4-0 victory as the offense dictated throughout the match. Â

After a slow start from both teams, the Jills found their footing and started to test the Sabercats' keeper. In a span of five minutes, Northland got four shots off with
Clara Schmiesing hitting the top of the woodwork. The first shot on goal came in the 18
th minute with a header from
Norah Green off a cross. In the 40
th minute, Northland scored its first goal of the season after
Greta Keffer sluts one in with an assist from
Saleen Thepmontry.

Coming out of the break the Jills did not take long to find the back of the net again.
Tiffany Tinsley doubled the Northland lead after stealing the ball from the MBU's backline and putting it past the keeper. It took only four more shot attempts and 10 minutes for Northland to add another one.
Reece Gellerman ended the scoring putting in the final goal in the 87
th minute to end the game 4-0.

Northland came out swinging and had 26 shots, with 15 being on frame. The Jills' defense held strong only allowing three shots with two being on goal. Northland and Maranatha Baptist both had five corners with all of them being defended well.

Keffer led the Jills with six shots in the game with three on frame and one finding the back of the net. Schmiesing hit the post twice in the game in her five shots in the game. Tinsley became the Northland leading scorer after finding the back of the net twice. Thepmontry came off the bench and assisted in half of the Jills goals. In goal,
Elysabeth Lough had a quiet night in goal earning her first clean sheet of the season and tallied saves.
