DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Northland College Men's Soccer team was defeated on Labor Day night 4-0 by Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. The Duhawks take the first game played between the two sides, shutting out the LumberJacks. 

The Duhawks jumped to an early lead after Michael Koutsopanagos placed a shot in goal in the first five minutes of play. Loras continued to test senior goalie Jamie Colvill throughout the match. LC found its second goal in the 23rd minute and followed it up six minutes later with a third. 

A free kick in the second half gave the Jacks their first shot on goal, but Quinn Bieber's shot got saved. Loras picked up where it left off coming out of the half but Colvill recorded six saves in the last 45 minutes to limit the damage with the only goal of the second half coming from the spot. 

Northland totaled five shots in its losing efforts with three coming from players off the bench. Bieber recorded the sole NC shot on frame, along with another that missed high. Thomas Carey, Julian Swensen and Victor Vancauteren also were able to get a shot off. Colvill in net saved nine shots with six coming in the second half. 

The Jacks will make their home debut on Friday as they host Maranatha Baptist University at 6 p.m., following the game between the LumberJills and the Sabercats at 4 p.m.
