Northland ties with the top team in the UMAC

Jacks earned a point against the Vikings in a 1-1 draw

ASHLAND, Wis.– The Northland College Men's Soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against the top team in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Bethany Lutheran College, Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Wis. The Jacks improved to 3-1-2 in the UMAC currently in third in the conference.
 
Jamie Colvill started the match off with an early save 95 seconds in. At the 11-minute mark, Colvill held strong and racked up three saves keeping the ball out of the net. Quinn Bieber had the first shot for Northland that went just wide in the 41st minute. 39 seconds later freshman Kolton Frederickson scored his first LumberJacks goal to break the deadlock.
 
It wasn't until 10 minutes in the second half that the first shot was taken. In a span of two minutes, Colvill added three more saves to his total. Diego Castaneda had the Jacks' first shot in the second half where he missed high. 10 minutes later Keagan Culbertson had a shot saved. The Vikings leveled the game in the 73rd minute with a goal from Lorenzo Falleti. The goal was the final in the match ending the game 1-1.
 
The Jacks tallied five shots in the match all coming from different student-athletes. The shots on goal came from players off the bench in Frederickson and Culbertson. Also recording a shot in the game were Castaneda, Bieber and Juan Solivellas. Colvill tallied eight saves in the match bringing up his season total up to 55.
 
The Jacks return to the pitch on Tuesday as they take on the University of Northwestern at 4:30 p.m., in New Ulm, Minn.
