Jills fall short against Minnesota-Morris

Northland drops game 1-0 to Cougars

MORRIS, Minn. – The Northland College Women's Soccer team fell short in its game against the University of Minnesota-Morris 1-0 Sunday afternoon in Morris, Minn.

The Jills did not have much offense in the first half unable to record a shot. The Cougars had nine shots in the first period with five on target. Elysabeth Lough saw five shots in the first half, keeping all out of the net. To start off the second half the Cougars crossed a ball in the box and an unlucky hit for the Jills had the ball end up in their own net. In the final 10 minutes of play, Northland started to set up strong chances. Greta Keffer had the first shot for NC, which the keeper ended up saving. With 45 seconds left, Erica Stouten sent a ball to the goal but it stayed out of the goal ending the game 1-0.

Northland had three shots in the game all in the second half. Stouten had two shots, one on frame and one that was wide right. Keffer had the other LumberJills shot in the center of the goal. Lough in goal, tallied a season-high 14 saves.

The Jills return to Ponzio Stadium Wednesday as they take on the University of Wisconsin-Superior at 7 p.m.
