Green knots up the game in the final minute to secure point for the Jills

Northland improves to 1-1-1 in the UMAC

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Soccer team salvaged a point in the final minute against North Central University tying 1-1 Tuesday night in Ashland, Wis. With 55 seconds left in the game Norah Green scores the tying goal for the Jills.
 
In the first half, the Jills tested the Rams' keeper with seven shots but were unable to land on the board. Northland had a string of shots and corners early in the first half. NCU earned a penalty kick in the 30th minute. The shot from the spot hit the crossbar and bounced out to keep the game level. Entering half Northland outshot North Central 10-6 and had seven shots on frame.
 
In the second, half the Jills continued to keep up the pressure. In the 68th minute, it was Getta Keffer's turn to get denied by the woodwork. In the 83rd minute, the Rams broke the deadlock with Ramiyah Words scoring the go-ahead goal. As the final seconds started to tick away the Jills earned a corner kick. Keffer swung the ball in finding Green to level the game at 1-1.
 
Northland ended the game with its second-most shots at 17. Three student-athletes finished the game with four shots: Clara Schmiesing, Green and Keffer. Green and Schmiesing both had three of their shots on frame. Coming off the bench Saleen Thopmontry had two shots. In goal, Elysabeth Lough stopped three shots, bringing her season total to 31 saves.
 
The Jills travel to Morris, Minn., to take on the University of Minnesota, Morris, Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
