ASHLAND, Wis.– The Northland College Men's Soccer team remains undefeated in Upper Midwest Athletics Conference play after topping North Central University 4-1, Tuesday night in Ashland, Wis.
Harrison Tibbetts followed up his five-goal game with a hat trick in the win.
Â
The Jacks found themselves down early after a shot from the spot went in from Rodrigo Burgos. Northland did not trail for too much longer with
Victor Vancauteren scoring 10 minutes after he came off the bench. Two minutes later the Jacks earned a penalty kick of their own which Tibbetts converted to push NC ahead. The first half was pretty even between each team with NCU outshooting Northland 7-6.
Â
In the second half, it was all the Jacks. The offense did its part finishing the game with a total of 16 shots with eight on goal and the defense held the Rams to only two shots in the second half. Northland found the back of the net for the third time with Tibbetts being assisted by
Ezra Walt. The scoring did not stop there with Tibbetts at the spot again and scored for the hat trick.
Â
With Tibbetts' hat trick, he has scored 10 goals on the season to lead the UMAC, double of second place's five. Vancauteren scored his first collegiate goal, making a big impact that shifted the game in favor of the Jacks. Tibbetts and
Thomas Carey led NC with five shots with Tibbetts having three on goal and Carey had one. Walt earned his first point of the season after assisting on Tibbetts's second goal.
Â
Goalkeeper
Jamie Colvill has still not given up a goal against the run of play in UMAC action. The sole goal allowed was from the penalty spot. For the rest of the game, Colvill made four saves to keep the Jacks ahead.
