Jason Carter named Assistant Coach at D1 Dartmouth (Ivy League)

Carter leaves for DI duties after three seasons with Northland College

HANOVER, N.H. – Former Northland College Women's Hockey coach Jason Carter was named to be Assistant Coach for the NCAA D1 Dartmouth University (Ivy League) women's hockey team announced on Thursday.
 
Carter took the role of Northland's head coach in the summer of 2020 and led the LumberJills for three seasons. Carter is only the second head coach for Northland Women's Hockey after the program's debut in the 2016-17 season. Last season Carter coached a LumberJills' side that won their first postseason game defeating the University of Wisconsin, Superior 5-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Along with winning the program's first postseason game Carter also earned 2023 WIAC Coach of the Year.
 
"I would like to thank Jason for guiding the program these past 3 years and he has made a great impact on the women's hockey program and the student-athletes at Northland," stated Northland's Athletics Director Dan Schumacher.
 
Carter started his collegiate coaching career as the assistant women's hockey coach for Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. He spent three seasons helping the program with recruiting, individual skill development, game planning, and much more. His with the Cardinals Carter helped them advance to the MAIC semi-finals.

Assistant Coach Natasha Hawkins has been named the interim Head Coach for Northland Women's Hockey. Hawkins coached under Carter in the 2022-23 season and now will take the reins for the upcoming season. Northland College will conduct a nationwide search for a new head coach following the 2023-24 season.
 
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
