NEW ULM, Minn. – The Northland College Women's Soccer team earned a point in the Upper Midwest Athletic standings after drawing 0-0 with Martin Luther College Saturday afternoon in New Ulm, Minn. A big reason how the Jills stayed in the game was junior keeper
Elysabeth Lough recording 13 saves in the tie.
Â
The LumberJills offense was kicking into gear at the start with
Greta Keffer,
Madie Linka, and
Reece Gellerman all recording shots on goal in a span of a minute. Lough help strong keeping Martin Luther out of the net and totaled five saves in the first half.
Â
Clara Schmiesing had the first shot for Northland in the second half to the bottom right side of the goal but not enough to get past Rebekah Schroeder. Both teams continued to attack the goal but were unable to land one in the back of the net. Lough finished with 14 saves and Schroeder had eight.
Â
Despite not getting a ball past the keeper the Jills recorded their most amount of shots in three weeks with eight and all were on goal. Gellerman, Schmiesing and Linka all had two shots in the match testing the keeper. Keffer finished the game with one shot and
Saleen Thepmontry recorded her first shot on goal this season. Nine student-athletes played the full 90 minutes with
Tiffany Tinsley being the only sub to come off the bench.
Â
The Jills will have one more match on the road before their next home match. On Wednesday Northland travels to Minneapolis, Minn., as they take on North Central University at 1 p.m. Â
