ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Hockey team split its first series of the season dropping game two 5-3 to Lawrence University Saturday evening in Ashland, Wis. The LumberJacks scored two short-handed goals in the game with
Camille Marcoux scoring both of them.
The Jacks were down early after giving up two goals in the first period. The second time the Jacks were down a man,
Connor Taylor got the puck to Marcoux who scored to get Northland on the board. In the same powerplay, the Vikings regained their two-goal lead. Finding themselves a man down again Marcoux picked the pocket of the defender and had a one-on-one with the goalie and scored to make it 3-2 to end the second period. In the first five minutes of the third period, Lawrence scored two more to put the game away. In the final eight seconds, the Jacks added one more goal by
Bryson Cecconi ending the game 5-3.
Senior
Andrew Liwiski led the team with seven shots and finished plus one. Liwiski also had one of the seven blocked shots. The goal scorer Marcoux was behind the senior defensemen with five shots. Marcoux also had a strong game in faceoffs winning nine of 13. Freshman
Andrew Yocum made his collegiate debut in goal, making 36 saves.
The Jacks hit the road next week as they play Concordia College at 7 p.m., on Friday in Moorhead, Minn.
