The Northland College Women's Hockey team enters its eighth season and this season will be coached by Natasha Hawkins. The last two seasons the Jills won their season opener and look to add to the streak. Last season Northland went 3-24-1 and picked up the program's first postseason win.
This will be the second time St. Kate's and Northland will square up with the Wildcats barely edging out the Jills 5-4 back in 2017. Eight goals were scored in the second period and SCU scored the winning goal in the third.
The LumberJills have 15 returning letter winners. Senior Maddy Blodel will help lead the defense after her Wisconsin Intercollegiate Conference Honorable Mention last season. Other big returners for Northland are senior
Elle Black and sophomores
Kyleigh Moffatt and
Kate Holtz. Freshman
Karlee Lehner will make her collegiate debut in goal this weekend.
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
