Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

LumberJacks and UWS Play to a Draw

ASHLAND, Wis.--- The Northland College Men's Soccer team hosted the defending UMAC conference champions, UW-Superior this evening at Ponzio Stadium in their UMAC Conference opener. After a hard fought back and fourth battle all evening, the two teams played to a 0-0 tie.

After a physical first couple of minutes to open the match, goaltender Jamie Colvill would make back to back saves to keep the game knotted at zero. Halfway through the first half, Izaak Clarke shot through the defense for a scoring chance but was denied by the keeper of UWS. The Jacks continued to pressure, forcing multiple corner kicks and a shot from Jonah Evans just sailed wide 30 minutes into the first half. The two teams would go into the half tied at zero. Shots were in favor of UWS 8-2 at the half. 

In the second, UWS continued their attack but once again Colvill stood strong in net for the Jacks making back to back highlight reel saves to keep the Jacks in the game. With time winding down in regulation, UWS looked to take the lead off of a goal in the LumberJack box but the goal was disallowed to keep the game knotted at 0. The two teams would battle to the end and the game would finish in a 0-0 tie. 

UWS out-shot the Jacks 16-6. 

Colvill made 8 saves in net. 

Next up for the Jacks is a non-conference game on Tuesday (Sep 20) against Maranatha Baptist in Watertown, WI. Game time is set to start at 4pm.
