For the second year in a row the Northland College Baseball team has been recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association for their efforts in the classroom. The team has been honored as a recipient of the Team Academic Excellence Award, given out annually by the ABCA.

The 2022 LumberJacks posted a 3.09 team GPA for the entire 2021-2022 school year. Eight LumberJacks were named to the UMAC Academic All-Conference team for their spring efforts: Seth Hackbarth (Oconomowoc, Wis.), Jay Harris (Byron, Mich.), Luke Maxwell (St. Louis, Mich.), Zach Nelson (Burnsville, Minn.), Blake Richard (Park Falls, Wis.), Jake Schramm (Kaukana, Wis.), Matt Simpson (Ladysmith, B.C.) and Ben Thompson (Madison, Wis.). Overall, 18 players posted a semester GPA of at least 3.0.

"I couldn't be more proud of the team," commented head coach Jeremy Snow. "We set a goal at the beginning of the fall for our academic commitment and the team followed through. I believe in our academic monitoring and the resources we offer on campus, but the credit should go to the team for their efforts in the classroom. We have now set the standard in the program of what it means to be a student first with back to back years of being recognized by the ABCA. I would like to thank the ABCA for all they do as an organization and for the award."

The American Baseball Coaches Association is proud to recognize the nearly 700 member college and high school programs from across the country who have been awarded the 2021-22 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, which is presented by Sports Attack. Teams from every level of college and high school baseball were honored with this year's award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2021-22 academic year.
