Viktor Wennberg, who got the start in net for Northland, made three consecutive saves, before
Cameron Coutre got a shot on goal for the Jacks. The teams traded shots for the first seventeen minutes of the period before the Pipers broke the scoreless contest with an even strength goal. Wennberg made two more saves in the period's final minutes to keep the deficit at one.
Northland again won the first face off of the period, which led to a Jack Craycroft shot.
Tristan Petrie fired another shot on net saved by the Pipers' goalie before Northland was able to earn their first of seven power plays less than two minutes into the second. Unfortunately, the LumberJacks came up empty with the man advantage. Seven minutes later the Jacks would get a second opportunity, but again they weren't able to even the score. Following an
Andrew Liwiski shot at the 15:57 mark, the Pipers were able to transition on the offensive side. Wennberg was able to save the first shot of the ensuing offensive, but the rebound was put in and Hamline took the 2-0 lead.
The third period saw the LumberJacks on the powerplay five times. Nine of their nineteen shots in the period were taken with the PP unit on the ice. Just under six minutes into the period
Ben Varga, finally, broke through for the LumberJacks.
Brendan Charlton picked up an assist on the play. The LumberJacks put forth an all out effort to even the game. The Jacks fired six shots over the next five minutes. Hamline went on a power play of their own at the 10:30 mark and converted the PP opportunity into their third goal of the contest. Northland used a barrage of shots over the remaining nine minutes to attempt the comeback, but were not able to score again. An empty net goal for the Pipers rounded out the final score.
