The Northland College Men's Soccer team returned to Ponzio Stadium on Wednesday night for a conference match against North Central University. Fresh off two straight nail-biters over the weekend in which they won with goals in the final 10 minutes, the Jacks again broke a tied game with a late goal to secure the victory.

The LumberJacks controlled the pace of play in the first half by outshooting the Rams 8-4. Harrison Tibbetts opened the scoring in the first half with his first collegiate goal in the game's twelfth minute. Osman Padilla played the ball over the top of the defense to the right post where Thomas Carey headed it towards the other post and found Tibbetts, who put it in the back of the net. The lead was short-lived, however, as the Rams were able to tie the game in just under four minutes. Northland narrowly missed retaking the lead throughout the half, but were unable to get the ball past the Rams' keeper, keeping the game knotted at one at the end of the half.

The second half saw a relentless Northland effort, again outshooting the Rams 12-1. The LumberJacks, also, earned four corner kicks in the half, but couldn't find the go ahead goal for a majority of the half. All that offensive effort was finally rewarded in the game's 83rd minute. Quinn Bieber, the weekend's hero after scoring two game winners last week, played a cross into the top of the box, where he found fellow freshman Julian Swensen. Swensen's strike was low past the Ram's keeper and found the back corner of the net for his second game-winning goal of the season. The opportunity was setup by Northland's keeper, Jamie Colvill, who took a free kick from just outside of midfield. Colvill earned the win in net making two saves.

Northland (5-5-2, 4-1-1 UMAC) will be back at Ponzio Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff versus Northwestern is set for 4:30 PM.
