The Northland College Men's Soccer program returned home to Ponzio Stadium on Friday evening for the final home stretch of the regular season. Taking on Crown College for the second time this season the LumberJacks, who have already clinched a postseason berth, looked to build some momentum heading into the UMAC tournament next week. The Jacks, however, needed to come from behind to earn the 1-1 result in a hard-fought match with the Polars.

The match was even in almost every category, including the score. Both teams were able to take ten shots, with both teams putting five of those shots on frame. Jamie Colvill was able to make four saves in net for the LumberJacks, as was Leo Roque for the Polars. Each team earned four corner kicks. Crown College was able to get on the board first in the 56th minute. Northland was able to answer back rather quickly in the 63rd minute, and in impressive form. Playing a man down the LumberJacks were able to get two players into the box when a loose ball headed towards the keeper. As the ball bounced in the box, Harrison Tibbetts got to the ball behind a diving keeper to score into the empty net.

Northland will finish the regular season at home on Saturday against UM-Morris. Prior to the 4:30 kickoff at Ponzio Stadium the team will recognize the senior players with a small ceremony on the field.

Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.Â
