Northland Men's Soccer concluded the road portion of the regular season on Saturday afternoon with a game at North Central University. The LumberJacks, coming off back to back wins, were looking to complete the season sweep of the Rams for the second year in a row. Unfortunately, that was not the case as the Rams were able to secure the 1-0 win.
Northland utilized heavy offensive pressure in the first half against North Central. The LumberJacks outshot the Rams 13-2 in the opening half, with six of their shots being put on frame. The Rams, however, made their lone shot on goal count when Weston Buckley's shot in the 20th minute found the net and secured the 1-0 lead. Northland put five additional shots on goal in the second half, but they were not able to get on past the Rams' keeper. The defense for the Jacks didn't allow a single shot in the second half, but the one goal deficit from the first half proved to be enough.
Northland (7-7-4, 6-6-3 UMAC) will conclude the regular season at home next week. First, they will take on Crown College on Friday, before concluding with the University of Minnesota Morris on Saturday. Both games will kickoff at 4:30 PM at Ponzio Stadium.
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
