Ashland, WI – The Northland College Lumberjacks put together a valiant third period effort, but ultimately their comeback fell short as the UW-Stout Blue Devils were able to earn a 5-3 win. The Jacks are now 3-10-3 on the year and 0-7-1 in the WIAC.
The Jacks took a lead in the first period courtesy of
Ty Brown, but the Blue Devils responded with four straight goals. Trailing 4-1 late in the third period,
Brendan Charlton got the Jacks back in the game with two goals in less than ninety seconds, with his second coming with just 2:02 left to play.
The Jacks couldn't find the final goal needed for their comeback, and the Blue Devils finished things off with an empty net goal with thirty seconds left.
Viktor Wennberg made 27 saves in net for the Jacks.
Both teams meet again on Saturday in Ashland at the Bay Area Civic Center. Game time is set for 7:00PM.
