Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Jacks Top Lions

Ashland, WI - The Jacks and the Lions faced off in their second non-conference game this season on Wednesday evening.  The Jacks bounced back after their earlier meeting as they defeated the Lions at home by a score of 4-2.  With the win the Jacks are now 3-9-3 on the year.

The Jacks took the Lions by storm early on and outshot the Lions 27-14 through the first two periods.  Josh King scored the lone goal in the opening period and Cameron Coutre added one more in the second period to give his team a 2-0 lead. The Lions answered with a goal of their own about five minutes later to put the score at 2-1.  Near the end of the second period a Lions defender slipped in his own zone and Parker Severson picked up the loose puck and put it into the back of the net to restore the Jacks two goal lead.

The third period consisted of a lot of penalty killing for both teams.  Only 14 seconds into the period the Lions had a player disqualified sending the Jacks on the power play.  The Jacks wasted no time with the advantage as Coutre picked up his second goal of the evening moments later to extend his teams lead to 4-1.

The Lions picked up their own power play goal late in the third, but the Jacks were able to grind out a tough 8 minutes and pick up the win at home.

Chris Curr got the win in net for the Jacks and made 19 saves.

The Jacks return to WIAC action on Thursday when they travel to UW-Stout.  The Jacks are in action at home on Saturday for a 7:00PM start to finish off their series with the Blue Devils.
