Jacks Prevail in High Scoring Match vs. Martin Luther

ASHLAND, Wis.--- The Northland College Men's Soccer team hosted Martin Luther College at Ponzio Stadium today in a Upper Midwest Athletic Conference matchup. After trailing 2-0 in the first half, the Jacks would score 5 of the next 6 goals to take today's game 5-3 over the Knights.

After allowing a fluky first goal and just minutes later a PK goal, the Jacks quickly found themselves in a 2-0 hole to Martin Luther. At the 30' mark of the first half, it was Thomas Carey that sparked the LumberJacks with a goal. He was assisted by Jonah Evans. Just six minutes later, Ainsworth Grant hammered a free kick just outside the box into the top right corner to tie the game at 2-2. Just two minutes later, Osman Padilla would fight through the MLC defense and and ripped a shot in the back of the net to make it 3-2 for the Jacks. He was assisted by Keagon Culbertson.

Martin Luther would tie the game 15 minutes into the start of the second half as the ball would ricochet off of 3 Northland defenders and found the back of the net to make it 3-3. The Jacks would finally break through for good ten minutes later as Marcos Gadea would score a beautiful goal to make it 4-3. He was assisted by Izaak Clarke and Osman Padilla. After a free kick from Ainsworth Grant and pass from Jonah Evans, it was Diego Castaneda scoring the insurance goal for the Jacks in highlight fashion to make it 5-3 and ultimately the match for the Jacks over the Knights. 

The Jacks would out shoot Martin Luther 22-11 in today's game. 

Jamie Colvill made 7 saves in net today for the Jacks.

The Jacks continue UMAC action tomorrow (Sep 24) as they host Bethany Lutheran College. Game time is set to start at 2pm.
