Hancock, MI--- The Northland College Women's Soccer team kicked off the 2021 season this afternoon on the road in Hancock, MI for a nonconference matchup vs. Finlandia University. Defense was on full display from both teams in this one as the game needed overtime but both teams would be unable to find the back of the net, ending the game in a 0-0 draw.

After a first half of feeling each other out, it was Northland who started the pressure in the second half as
Saleen Thepmontry,
Reece Gellerman and
MaKaria Ottum all would have chances for the LumberJills to score but were unable to connect. With the final minutes of regulation winding down,
Isabelle McCurry and
Coriander Dehlin both had opportunities for the Jills to give their team the lead but the game remained tied 0-0 after regulation. The Jills fought away a late attack in the second overtime from the Lions who mustered up four corner kicks to grab the draw as the game would finish in a 0-0 tie.
Elysabeth Lough, who started in her first NCAA in net today, finished with 3 saves for the Jills.
Finlandia out shot the Jills 13-9.
The Jills continue their nonconference slate of games this Saturday at Ponzio Stadum as the take on Macalester College. Game time is set to start at 3:00pm.
