The Jacks squared off against the Marian University Sabres tonight on the road.
The Jacks quickly jumped out to an early lead to start the first period as
Kurt Sonne would put it between the pipes, giving the Jacks the first lead of the game. He was assisted by
Ty Kraus. The Jacks would remain in control for the remainder of the period, keeping the Sabres out of the net and keeping the 1-0 lead intact. The Jacks would go into the first intermission up 1-0.
The Sabres would be able to break through in the second, tying the game up at 1-1. The Jacks would try to answer as they battled up and down the ice. However, the Sabres would be able to break the tie with just over two minutes remaining in the period. The Jacks would continue attacking the net, but weren't able to tie it up before the end of the period. They would go into the third down 2-1.
The Jacks wasted no time in the third as
Zackary Fisher put it in the back of the net, tying the game up at 2-2.He was assisted by
Connor Evans and
Cole Woodliffe. The teams battled for possession throughout the remainder of the period, tallying shots on goal. However, neither team would be able to take the lead before the end of regulation. The game would go to overtime.
The Jacks threatened early, but the Sabres would score first. The Jacks would fall by a final score of 3-2.
David Krejcik recorded 38 saves in the game.
The Jacks will face Marian University on the road in the first round of the Harris Cup Playoffs.
