Jacksonville, IL-
The Northland College Baseball team continued their series vs. Iowa Wesleyan with a double header today in Jacksonville, IL. In cold and windy conditions, Iowa Wesleyan would take both games by scores of 28-20 and 17-7.
Game 1
In game one,
Carson Ferry would get the start on the mound for the Jacks. Iowa Wesleyan would come out of the gates hot, scoring 5 runs in the top of the first inning. Northland would respond with 5 runs of their own as
Garrett Warrenn would reach first on a 1 out walk.
Noah Cross would continue his hot hitting with a double down the left field line, advancing Warrenn to 3rd.
Adrian Bethel would hit a 2RBI double.
Joseph Veit would later pick up the 2RBI double, scoring Bethel and Arreazola to make it 5-5. The Jacks would add two more runs in the 2nd inning to make it 7-5. Iowa Wesleyan would add runs in the 3rd and 4th innings to make it 10-7 before Northland would explode for 8 runs in the bottom of the 4th.
Shawn O'Connell would pick up a 2RBI single scoring
Ben Matteson and
Adrian Bethel as the Jacks would retake the lead 15-10. Wesleyan would add two runs in the top of the 5th but Northland would again answer with 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning highlighted by a 2RBI single for the hot hitting
Noah Cross as the Jacks would take the 19-12 lead. In the top of the 6th inning, Wesleyan would explode for 12 runs off of 4 hits, while the Jacks would commit 4 errors in the inning as the Jacks would trail 24-19. Northland would make things interesting as
Ben Matteson would hit a solo blast over center field to make it 24-20 but Wesleyan would tack on 4 more runs to take game 1 28-20 in the high scorng .
Seth Hackbarth,
Kyle Wallace and
Jonathan Knusta would all pitch in relief in game one.
Noah Cross would lead the Jacks at the plate going 3-5 with 3 RBI's
Game 2
In game two, the Jacks would fall by a score of 17-7.
Jake Schramm and
Earl Kraft would record their first collegiate hits as a LumberJack.
Next up for the Jacks is another trip to Jacksonville, IL to take on Iowa Wesleyan March 1-2.
