Jacks Hold On, Top Vikings

Ashland, WI –

The Jacks hosted Lawrence University today at the Bay Area Civic Center for their second NCHA match of the weekend.

The Jacks attacked early and often to start the first, as they immediately tallied shots on goal. However, it would be the Vikings who would take the first lead of the game. Just over two minutes later the Vikings would add to their lead, going up 2-0. The Jacks would cut that lead in half with less than two minutes remaining in the period as Kurt Sonne found the back of the net, to get the Jacks within one. He was assisted by Ty Kraus and Kyle Pouncy on the play. They would go into the second down 1-0.

The Jacks once again came out fast in the second, as they controlled the puck. The Vikings defense would keep the Jacks at bay early, but Max Glashauser would be able to breakthrough, tying it up at 2-2. He was assisted by Zachary Ruley and Daniel Chartrand on the play. The Jacks would break the tie a few minutes later when Lucas DeBenedet put it in the back of the net. He was assisted by Michael Courvoisier and Matt Murphy on the play. Cole Woodliffe added another goal with 12:15 elapsed in the period to give the Jacks a 4-2 lead. He was assisted by Kalib (Gus) Ford and Austin Parrish. The Jacks would go into the third up 4-2.

The Jacks remained in control to start the third. Kyle Pouncy would score an insurance goal with 9:19 elapsed in the period, giving the Jacks a 5-2 lead. He was assisted by Connor Evans and Ty Kraus on the play. The Vikings would score two goals before the end of the period, but that would be it. The Jacks would win by a final score of 5-4.

David Krejcik recorded 15 saves in the game.

The Jacks out-shot the Vikings 32-19 on the day.
