The Jacks hosted the Finlandia University Lions tonight for their first Northern Collegiate Hockey Association matchup of the weekend.
The Jacks fell behind early as the Lions would be able to score one minute into the period. The teams would be even from there as they would battle up and down the ice trying to control the puck. With less than two minutes remaining in the period
Jared Hester would find the back of the net, tying it up at 1-1. He was assisted by
Kalib (Gus) Ford and
Lucas DeBenedet on the play. The Jacks would go into the second tied up at 1-1.
The Jacks came out ready to go in the second as they would immediately pressure the Lions. With 3:35 elapsed in the period
Bailey Shaver would break the tie and put the Jacks up 2-1. He was assisted by
Kyle Gonzalez and
Michael Courvoisier. The Jacks would add to their lead later in the second as
Korey Muzzy would rip a shot between the pipes, putting the Jacks up 3-1. He was assisted by
Ty Kraus and
Kurt Sonne on the play. The Jacks would go into the third up 3-1.
The Jacks wouldn't be done scoring as
Shane Roulette would find the back of the net, giving the Jacks a 4-1 lead. He was assisted by
Marshall Nikitin and
Korey Muzzy. A few minutes later
Shane Roulette would score his second goal of the game, putting the Jacks up 5-1. He was assisted by
Kyle Pouncy and
Max Glashauser on the play.
Ty Kraus would score the Jacks' final goal of the game, putting the Jacks up 6-1. He was assisted by
Cole Woodliffe and
Max Glashauser. The Jacks would win by a final score of 6-1. The Jacks clinched an NCHA playoff berth with tonight's win.
David Krejcik finished the night with 13 saves.
The Jacks will be back at home tomorrow (2/2) against St. Norbert College. Puck drop is set for 7pm.
