Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Jacks Shutout Sabres

Ashland, WI –

The Jacks hosted Northern Collegiate Hockey Association opponent the Marian University Sabres tonight at the Bay Area Civic Center.

The teams came out evenly matched, as they skated up and down the ice battling for possession of the puck. The Sabres threatened first, but a strong defensive showing by the Jacks would keep them at bay and hold them scoreless. The Jacks would pressure the Sabres late in the half, but wouldn't be able find the back of the net. They would go into the second tied 0-0.

The teams continued to battle early in the second, as both teams fought for possession. Marian once again would threaten early, but the Jacks defense would again do its job, keeping the Sabres scoreless. With a little over three minutes remaining in the period, Cole Woodliffe would rip a shot past the Sabres' goaltender to give the Jacks the first lead of the game. He was assisted by Kalib (Gus) Ford and Connor Evans on the play. The Jacks would go into the third up 1-0.

The Jacks attacked the net early and often in the third, but wouldn't be able to add to their lead over the Sabres. The Sabres would pull their goalie late, pressuring the Jacks with an extra attacker. However, it wouldn't be enough as the Jacks would stay strong and complete the shutout.

David Krejcik finished the game with 36 saves.

The Jacks will be back at home tomorrow (1/26) against Lawrence University. Puck drop is set for 4pm.
