Morris, MN
The Northland College Baseball team traveled to Morris, MN today for a conference double header vs. the Univeristy of Minnesota Morris. The Jacks would win game one 7-4 but fall in game two 4-2.
In game one,
Anthony Corrado would get the start on the mound for the Jacks. The Jacks would jump out to the early 2-0 lead in the first as
Paden Kottwitz would single up the middle to score
Alex Loberger and
Jakob Freele. Morris would answer with two runs in the bottom of the third inning, but the Jacks would retake the lead with three runs in the top of the 5th inning as Kottwitz would stay hot at the plate with a single to left field, scoring
Anthony Corrado.
Adrian Bethel would steal home to score and the Jacks would add another run to make it 5-2. Morris would threaten late with two runs in the 8th inning to make it 5-4 but the Jacks would score two of their own in the top of the 9th inning as
Paden Kottwitz would single, scoring
Carson Ferry and
Jakob Freele. Ferry would come in to pitch and close the door for the save as the Jacks would take game one, 7-4.
Corrado would pitch 7.1 innings, allowing 2 earned runs off of 9 hits while striking out 8. Ferry would pitch 1.2 innings, allowing 1 hit with 4 strike outs to earn the save.
Kottwitz would have a monster day at the plate going 3-5 with 5 rbi's.
Game 1
Seth Bayliss would get the start on the mound in game two. Morris would jump out to the early lead with a run in first for the early 1-0 lead. Morris pitching would do a good job keeping the LumberJack bats in check and would add another run in the 4th to take a 2-0 lead. Arreazola would score off of an error in the 5th inning as the Jacks would trail 2-1 after 5. Morris would add runs in the 6th and 7th innings to widen their lead 4-1. Northland would threaten late, as Freshman
Adrian Bethel would blast a solo home run over the left field wall to make it 4-2. Morris pitching would keep the Jacks in check and take game two 4-2.
Seth Bayliss would go the distance, pitching 8 innings, giving up 3 earned runs off of 9 hits.
The Jacks will travel to Duluth MN tomorrow (4/29) for a non conference double header vs. Finlandia University. First pitch is set for 1pm.
