Jacks Fall on the Road to Lawrence University

The Jacks faced off against the Lawrence University Vikings today in their first doubleheader of the series. The Jacks would fall 10-8 in game 1 and 15-5 in game 2.

In game 1, Freshman Seth Bayliss started on the mound for the Jacks. The Vikings would score right away in the game plating a run in the bottom of the first. The Jacks took the lead in the top of the third with a 2 RBI single by Alex Loberger. Freshmen Shawn O'Connell and Rian Arreazola would score on the hit. The Vikings broke through in the bottom of the fourth with a three run inning, jumping back on top 4-2. The Jacks responded in the sixth with a 5 run inning to go up 7-4. Jakob Freele would rip one over the left field wall in the eighth and put the Jacks up 8-4. The Vikings answered in the bottom half of the frame with a 6 run inning and took a two run lead into the ninth. The Vikings would hold on to win 10-8.

Freshman Noah Cross recorded three hits for the Jacks, while Freele, Loberger, and O'Connell each had 2. Loberger led the team with 2 RBIs.

Seth Bayliss threw seven strong for the Jacks, giving up 5 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 2. He would be given a no decision in the contest. Senior Ernie Robrecht threw the final frame for the Jacks, giving up 5 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks. He would be charged with the loss.

Sophomore Riley Reuter got the nod in game two for the Jacks. The Vikings would jump on the ball early and get out to a 6-0 lead in the first. The Vikings tallied another run in the second and added 2 more in the fifth to widen their lead to 9-0. The Jacks got on the board in the sixth with RBI doubles by Freshmen Adrian Bethel and Rian Arreazola to get the Jacks within 7. The Vikings got one back in the bottom half of the inning. In the seventh the Jacks would put up 3 with RBI singles coming from Anthony Corrado and Austin Stuckart. However, the Vikings would once again respond and tack on 3 more runs in their half of the inning. The Vikings put up two more in the bottom of the eighth and went on to win 15-5.

Senior Paden Kottwitz and Adrian Bethel each had two hits for the Jacks.

Reuter would throw 4.2 innings, giving up 3 earned runs on 11 hits, while walkiing one and striking out 2. He would be given the loss on the day.

The Jacks will play another doubleheader again tomorrow against Lawrence University. First pitch is now 1pm.
