Foresters Top Jills

The Jills squared off against the Lake Forest College Foresters today for their second game of their NCHA weekend doubleheader.

The Foresters pressured the Jills early in the period. However, the Jills' defense was able to successfully fend off the offensive attack. The Jills wouldn't be able to break through in the period and would take a 0-0 tie into the second period.

The Foresters got on the board first, 4 minutes into the second period to break the scoreless tie. They would add an insurance goal later in the period and widen their lead over the Jills to 2. With less than 5 minutes remaining in the period Samantha Scott would launch a shot into the back of the net, cutting the Foresters' lead down to 1. The Jills would go into the third down 2-1.

The Foresters scored first in the third period, bringing their lead back to 2. However, the Jills would once again respond when Ashley Hammes found the back of the net to get the Jills back to within 1. She was assisted by Ally Covert and Vivienne Kallio on the play. With a little over a minute remaining in the game the Foresters were able to add one more goal, increasing their lead to 2. The Jills would fall by a final score of 4-2.

Gabby Suhr finished the game with 37 saves.

The Jills will be back on the ice 2/10 at Marian University. Puck drop is set for 5pm.

Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 15 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.
