The LumberJills hosted the University of Minnesota Morris Cougars today for a UMAC conference matchup at the Chapple Family Gymnasium.
The Jills got on the board first, but the Cougars would quickly jump out to a 5-2 lead. The Cougars eventually widened their lead to 9. The Jills would keep pace with the Cougars throughout the half. However, they wouldn't be able to catch the Cougars before the end of the half and went into halftime down 35-21.
The Cougars got on the board first in the second, but the Jills would respond and keep the Cougars within reach. However, a 12-0 Cougar's run would give them a 65-39 lead. The Jills fought their way through the second half, but it wouldn't be enough as the Cougars went on to win by a final score of 82-54.
Emily Wagner led the Jills with 15 points, while Sarah Houle and Autumn Ninke each added 11 points.
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 15 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.
