Jills Skate to 4-4 Tie

Ashland, WI -

The Jills hosted NCHA conference opponent the St. Norbert College Green Knights tonight at the Bay Area Civic Center.

The Jills got off to a slow start and fell behind 1-0 a little over seven minutes into the period. The Jills would tally shots on net, but weren't able to get any shots to land. The Green Knights would add an insurance goal before the end of the period, and took a 2-0 lead over the Jills into the second period.

The Jills wasted no time getting on the board in the second. 9 seconds into the period Allyson Reilly would score a power play goal and put the Jills on the board. She was assisted by Samantha Scott on the play. A few minutes later Bridget Allex found the back of the net and tied the game up at 2-2 with assists coming from Allyson Reilly and Amanda Abounader. The Jills took the lead a little over 2 minutes later on another power play goal by Allyson Reilly. Amanda Abounader and Kylie Fahmer were credited with assists on the goal. The Jills offensive attack wouldn't be over in the period as Robyn Matula ripped a shot into the back of the net off of a Kylie Fahmer pass to put the Jills up 4-2. The Green Knights would answer before the end of the period and cut the Jills' lead down to 1. The Jills went into the third period up 4-3.

The Green Knights tied it up a little over 6 minutes into the period. The Jills would create opportunities in the third, but weren't able to break through before the end of regulation. They would go into overtime tied up at 4-4.

Both teams battled for control of the puck throughout overtime. However, neither team would be able to get on the board. The game would end with a 4-4 tie.

Maggie Cusey finished the game with 29 saves in the game.

The Jills will be back on the ice tomorrow for game two of their weekend doubleheader against the Green Knights. Puck drop is scheduled for 4pm.
