The Jills traveled to Manitoba, Canada for an international non-conference contest against the Providence University College Pilots.
The Jills would start the game on an 18-2 run and remained in control for much of the game. They outscored the Pilots 17-7 in the first two quarters of the game, going into halftime with a 34-14 lead over the pilots. The Jills would continue their strong offensive play in the third quarter as they would put up 20 points. However, the Pilots would start to find a rhythm, keeping pace with the Jills. The Jills would go into the final quarter of the game with a 54-34 lead still intact. The final quarter was competitive as both teams would trade shots with one another, but the Jills would once again be able to outscore the Pilots in the quarter. They would preserve their lead, topping the Pilots by a final score of 69-47.
Bianca Avalos and Bryza Pizano both recorded a team high 14 points for the Jills, while Ashton Meadows added 13 points. Pizano also had a team high 7 rebounds, while Avalos recorded 6.
Head women's basketball coach Daryle Tucker commented on the game, "We had a great team bonding time in Canada. Team really gutted out the win today. We continue to get better, taking one step at a time."
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.
